Don't Be Afraid of a little wind

It looks like the wind is going to be huffing the next few days in Key West but do not let that scare you off of a fishing charter. That is the beauty of a Key West fishing charter, there are so many options. First of all, the Scarlet Rose is one of the larger boats in Key West and one of the most comfortable with indoor seating and a 16' beam to make rougher seas seem like a calm day.

If you are still worried, we can always hide from the wind. No matter the wind direction in the Keys there is always somewhere to hide out and catch fish. Some times it forces you to hunt for different species, searching for Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, Wahoo, and Marlin isn't always the smartest move. In shore there are plenty of places to look for Sharks, Snapper, Mackerel and Grouper. In those locations the seas are little to nothing even in severe winds.

Trophy Hunting!! It's that time of year.

It's that time of year here in Key West. The mahi mahi (dolphin) run is starting early, the sailfish run is right around the corner and there are large amberjack and sharks on the wrecks, not to mention their have been a ridiculous amount of Blue Marlin caught already this year.

We on the Scarlet Rose work hand in hand with a company that will mount your monster catch for you. After we get measurements on your catch all the information is sent off and fiberglass mold are made and painted.

That means that you do not have to kill your trophy to mount it, which is great for our fishery. So give me a call and lets get out there and put something on the wall. If you are not into trophy hunting then how about food for the table. There is nothing better than a nice slab of mahi mahi or wahoo on your plate after and long day on the water.

Warm water, big fish early!!

Seems to be weed lines to fish almost daily. The dolphin are already out there and starting to be caught in bigger numbers. Amberjack are also on most of the wrecks, sometimes they are a little picky and need live baits but they are eating. And for the full day charters that get out a little further, there have been quite a few blue marlin sightings and hook ups. Lucky enough to find something floating and there is usually a few wahoo waiting for you.

For those of you not familiar with wahoo, they are long and slender like a mackerel with tiger stripes and they are also one of the tastiest fish in the ocean. They are a blast to catch, one of the fastest fish in the ocean.

The Point is, get your butts down to Key West, Florida and lets get off shore and do some deep sea fishing aboard the Charter Boat Scarlet Rose.

Deep sea fishing in Key West, FL in March this year will be interesting. The water really never did cool off that much so the mahi mahi fishing was pretty good all winter.

When the weather is too rough to go off shore we can always go play on the wrecks or with the bottom fish like snapper and grouper. After we catch you plenty of fish to eat we can also put a little blood in the water and go after the big sharks that we have hanging around.

So get down here to Key West and lets get you a big fish. Sailfish should also start moving through soon. More to come from the Scarlet Rose.......
